OVERVIEW:
WOMEN PARTS HAVE ARRIVED!!!
For an idea of the production, please visit www.ladyfromday.com
(BOOK 1 is nearly halfway done with production).
To get an idea of length:
Book 1 is 12 Chapters long (Chapter 1-12
Book 2 is 9 Chapters long (Chapter 13-22)
Book 3 is partially written, I expect at least 10-12 chapters (Chapter 22-25 are written)
This is open to anyone with any kind of voice AND current Book I cast. I would like some auditions with British accents for regular townspeople. Gorlags can be of any accent. Also, some characters have small parts so you can audition for more than one if you have a diverse enough voice range. I'm VERY picky about sound quality. People who can't control ploisives and major computer noise and echoes/mechanical sounding voices will NOT be casted.
SYNOPSIS:
Lady from Day is a story about an adventurer Lia (Sophie Neveu) and her group of companions and their quest to save the princess Daschl Feyris (Cerhiunnhn) from her malady. The princess is cursed with an appetite that doesn't cease unless she is asleep. She is always hungry and has been eating all of the kingdom's food. Lia, her counterpart Siegfried (JauntyHat) roam Feyris and the outlying regions in search of a cure for the princess. Through their journey they meet up with some unexpected people and encounter some horrible creatures such as the gorlags (Emcgo, Moose, Klaymen) and beautiful places like Harper Wood. Come listen to the story over a course of three Books.

PARTS:
MALE
MAN 1
Description: Man 1 (20's) is one of Rowan's soldiers. He comes on to Mira and is a bit ruff...like your regular bar visitor. I would think Cockney would be good for him
Voice Type: Medium
Line 1 Flirty Aren’t you a pretty maid
Line 2 I see, I see. She is no maid! (TO OTHER MEN, HUSHED WHISPER) Best leave that one alone.
Lucian
Description: Lucian (60) is the old candlemaker. He doesn't like to take crap and is pretty much a mean old man unless there is money involved.
Voice Type: Medium
Line 1 I'm imagining his accent to be French or Revolutionary Age American. I’m a chandler young man, not a wax maker. Why would ye want wax for? If ye have a need for candles, I have plenty here. Ye don’t have candles that ye can melt down then?
FEMALE
Koork
Description: Koork (40's) is the cook of the gorlag Keep. She is harsh and mean most of the time...a very rugged exterior but she can be soft when she wants to (which isn't often.)
Koork is a supporting role.
Voice Type: Medium
She is Strict...for pronunciation lieh-heyr is pronounced (LEE-HAIR) and gorlag is (GORE-LAG) Let's get one thing straight Lieh-heyr…
Line 1 I rule the roost here. I don't take any slime from anyone but the Mistress. I don't tolerate my staff trying to escape here because these gorlag folk trust me. If you try to escape I'll deal with you personally. Tayla for example, has tried twice. You can see what I did with her.
Mistress
Description: Mistress (30's) is a gorlag. She is very commanding as she is the mistress of the Keep. She has a daughter (Kratah) which she spoils rotten. Gorlag voices are changed by smoking druffet grass so imagine a deep smoker's voice. Lieh-heyr is pronounced (LEE-HAIR), sgalag (sga-lag like ska with a g and airplane lag).
Mistress is a minor role. It might end up upgrading to supporting later on.
Voice Type: Low (could be a man with a hair of falsetto)
Line 1 Commanding tone.Mistress uses a bit of broken English. From now on, you are called Lieh-heyr since you try to be independent. It means you only half independent. We make you see that though you may think you are a leader, we here rule and command. I have decided to put you in the kitchens. With the growth of our community, the kitchen sgalags will have a lot to do. We only have three woo-man's there and they must feed us all. You must learn your rank. I am always called Mistress.
Line 2 Loving and motherly. Khratah is pronounced (KRAH-TAH) Perhaps you can keep her as a sgalag my poppet. You have been such a good little girl Khratah.
Kratah
Description: Kratah (10) is Mistress's daughter. She is awkwardly childlike. Her voice should be that of a 10 year old with some gruffness. Pronounce salach (SALL-ACK)
Voice Type: High
Line 1 You salach, you need cleaning. I'll clean you up pretty.
Tayla
Description: Tayla (38) was born in the City of Kings (Midonia in Fanarion). She has a very upper-class attitude and posh British accent.Koork pronounced (CORK).
She has a rough exterior after many years in the gorlag service.
Voice Type: High-Medium
Line 1 She is talking to Lia and is speaking with defiance against the gorlag regime. Thus, very angry Koork is a stubborn old woman. She has lost her faith in our ability to succeed in leaving this prison. I've tried for five years and finally she let her vexations loose on me. I however, will never give up. I know the one thing that can ruin these infidels...but, I can't reveal that to you until I know I can trust you. (LAUGH) Why else would they worry so much about my release into society again?
Emteh
Description: Emteh (30's) is a sgalag in the gorlag kitchen. She has turned into the "hall monitor" of sorts and is a tattle-tale. Lia tries to make her change her ways, much to the distaste of Tayla.
Emteh is a supporting role.
Voice Type: High-Medium
Line 1 She's a tattle-tale so she always has a smart-elicky attitude. It’s really quite usual. What can you expect with the gorlags as their masters? The chickens don’t like anyone around them. You will get used to the pecking, they give up when they realize you aren’t going to do anything to them. It’s just utterly annoying.
Line 2 A hint of smart-elick but this is one of her soft moments. Yes, well, we make do as best we can. Personally, this is actually better than when I was a free woman. I have learned to adjust. It’s easier to get along here than back at home. At least here I’m accepted by Koork and have no real worries other than wondering whether the chickens will lay eggs, or if the gorlags will need a meal at an unusual time. It’s a lot simpler of a life. You should try to adjust as well.
Mira
Description: Mira (25) is the Guardian of Harper Wood (Harper Wood appears in Book I as a place where bards habitated and used the wood for instruments which played always in tune and always perfectly). She appears in Chapter 17 to help Rowan and Siegfried.
Mira is a main role.
Voice Type: Medium
Line 1 Very angry with Rowan after one his men hit on her. Not important!? Not important? You say that now, but just wait until the gorlags attack and your men are too drunk to defend themselves. It will be a slaughter. Now given that this place is living in the lap of luxury and has some kind of agreement with the gorlags, it doesn’t mean they are given a white card. The gorlags are close enough to attack quickly and without mercy. Now, why they don’t is beyond me but it would be all the easier if there were no defenses.
Line 2 Directing Rowan and Siegfried on how to act like a woman. Rowan and Sig, now you must learn to walk like women. It’s just one foot in front of the other, but you need to move your hips to either side and sway. (GIGGLE) No no no. You are overdoing it. You aren’t supposed to attract attention or men for that matter. Less is more in this case.
Gloria Naydle
Description: Gloria (30-40's) is a plump, instantly lovable character. She is the seamstress for Moir Awin and is very cordial and a good salesperson. She should probably have a Cockney accent or something similar.
I might self-cast myself if I don't find anyone suitable here.
Gloria is a minor role (but some of the lines are long).
Voice Type: High-Medium
Line 1 She's pretty much a motor mouth, but very cordial. Cockney accent preferred. Well why didn’t you boys say so? Two new daddies must be unusual yes. You both aren’t dressed too bad so I didn’t think you were wilderness men. Well this here is one of the better villages so I can see why the nurse took you here. Only the best for your pretty wives. I would hate to know how long it took you to get here. Well best be getting along to your wives. I think I have just the thing. I’ll be in my cellar for only a moment dears.
Line 2 Ah, true true. Well you best be quick about it, this is worship day. I’m finishing the last of these socks for Friar Albert. Julia’s wiggery shop is actually is one of the few shops here that closes just before the service. Most aren’t even open until after. Nessa is the one that can help you with the head dresses. She is closed now but she will be open after. I suggest you hurry, Julia would be closing up now. I’ll be seeing you later, I’ve got a delivery to make. We can’t have a sermon by a sockless friar can we?
Julia
Description: Julia (20's) is a very dainty woman. She makes the wigs at Moir Awin. Julia should have a dainty high feminine voice...any accent
Julia is a minor role.
Voice Type: High
Line 1 These ribbons need to be attached around the head hairs, that way the wig is less likely to fall off. I am sure your wife wouldn’t want to be embarrassed on such a day where all attention is drawn to your family. The ribbons have a bit of copper wire inside so they will be very tight when tied.
